Please read this before you travel.
Ozplore takes you to some of Australia's most remarkable places — and some of them are genuinely remote, rugged, or dangerous. Your safety is your responsibility. Please travel prepared.
Many Ozplore places are far from towns, phone reception, fuel, water, and help. Before heading into remote areas: - Tell someone your route and expected return time. - Carry plenty of water, food, and fuel — more than you think you need. - Check your vehicle is suitable (some places need 4WD) and in good condition. - Check the weather and road conditions — roads can flood, close, or become impassable. - Carry emergency communication — a satellite phone, PLB (personal locator beacon), or EPIRB where appropriate. Mobile coverage is often non-existent. - Don't attempt access beyond your experience, vehicle, or fitness.
Australian environments carry real risks: extreme heat, sudden weather, flash flooding, strong currents and rips at beaches, cliffs and unstable edges, bushfire, wildlife (including snakes, crocodiles in the north, and marine stingers), and remote terrain. Observe all warning signs, ranger advice, and local closures. Conditions change.
Places listed in Ozplore may be closed, seasonal, changed, or no longer accessible. Opening hours, access, and conditions can change without notice. Always verify locally — with official park services, councils, or the venue — before relying on a visit.
Call 000 (or 112 from a mobile). In remote areas without coverage, use your PLB/EPIRB or satellite device. Know the location and limitations of help before you set out.
